I am trying to locate a lost family member, His Name is

I am the eldest daughter of Gordon "Jesse" Owens and am looking to get in contact with anyone who may have known dad at any stage during his service I know that he was an RO and he served 19 days in Vietnam on the HMAS Derwent dad passed away in 1987 when I was 9 so he never got to tell me any stories of his time in the navy and I never got the chance to ask.

I have Plural Plaques and DVA stuffed me around. In the mid 90s I was found to have the above and DVA gave me 40% disability pension. After that I had loss of hearing, tinitus and in 2004 I had a heart problem and had a triple bypass. At the same time I was found to have diabetes 2. Later skin cancers was diagnosed and all this time DVA kept lowering the 40% Plural Plaques pension so they didn't go over 90% total pension.
I went to asbestos lawyers in Brisbane (Turner Freeman 1800683928)After several tests of CT scans and specialists for us and DVA we sued the RAN and won the case. The amount was considerable and if it turns to cancer I will have the option to sue them again but I will have to foot every bill for cancer treatment.
Like Louis, whether or not China got his TPI reinstated is of little concern to me, but his wearing of tin medals and a medal he is not entitled to makes him a classic wannabe. China's been around long enough to know one does not wear tin medals on the same rack as officially awarded medals. If he want's to wear tin medals, they should be worn on the right breast.
China, if you read this, hopefully you'll see the errors of your way, and carry out the neccessary corrections to your rack.

I don't have a problem with "China" having his TPI re-instated but I have a BIG problem with his "rack" of medals. I was on "Parramatta" when "SWAN" releived us in Singapore in 1971, PARRAMATTA was the last RAN ship[ to serve in the FESR. I am familar with the protocol and the issuing of medals, and I am know about "china's" history. I would love to see 'CHINA" remove the 'Tin Awards' and "Vietnam Star" the former has not been awarded to anyone who served less than 6 months in the Vietnam Conflict.Being posted to a DDG after the fall of Siagon doesn't qualify for the said medal. "China" I suggest strongly to conform and adjust his medals, it would go a long way to rebuild the bridges.

I liked your site.
Hello. I'm sister of ex sailor who has suggested I go on this site. I am an author with a major Aust publishing company, 5 books published. I am presently writing a book on Derek Ernest Percy who served between Nov 67 until his arrest for the murder of a 12 year old girl in July 69. He served on the Queenborough between August 68 and March 69. He was in the electrical section and was on the Melbourne between March 68 to July 68. On the Sydney between July and August 68. Cerberus April - July 69. Can anyone tell me where the Q'B was during this period or the other ships? Also, if anyone knew him and any memories you could share, or pics?
It is possible that Percy is responsible for Wanda Beach Murders, Sydney 1965, Beamont abductions, Adl 1966, Alan Redston, Canberra 1967, Simon Brook, Glebe Syd, 1968, Linda Stilwell, St kilda Melb 1968. We know he murdered Yvonne Tuohy 1969, arrested at Cerberus.
Pls contact me at email@example.com if you have anything to share re Percy.

to all pussers out there, especially JRs from Leeuwin and in particular Rhodes 25th and anyone whom I served with on Vamps, the Dity D and Melbourne. I have just been f****d over by th DVA, knocked me back from 90 to 40%. I have heard a rumour that they are going hard on sailors, god bless the new go getting academics in DVA. Obviously little Johnny has told them he needs more money for all the b**** f****g refugees I see walking around my suburb in their designer sports clothes and talking on their mobiles. Oh well , I have never been PC and to late to start, anyone else out there had a hand job done on them by the DVA I would like to hear from you. BTW my main detractors in the reports to the DVA came from Wrightway Research Services, I remember that wanker in pussers. Anyhow FTW, up the mighty red rooster - MORE PISS. Great site, keep up the good work.

G'day, I have just been reading your current newsletter and suggested program for the 2006 Nirimba ReUnion and think it is a fantastic idea.
A number of other old shipmates have also put their hands up when I told them about the idea.
Is there somewhere to officially register interest?
Thanks for all your efforts in making the reunion happen.
Please note: The ANVVWA(WA) has nothing to do with the organisation of the Nirimba reunion. The articles were placed on our website for our members, and any other visitors, to read.

G'day once again....was browsing thru messages etc, and came across an old one of mine from a couple of years back, thought i had better update my e-mail addy, just in case some silly fool wished to communicate with me. Am impressed with the site, amazing what a Mechanician can manage eh..well done TicToc....where's my wedding present?? Unfortunately i had cause to send in a response to a missing person, ex RSM Brian Lawrance....he was a good bloke and is sadly missed around the traps, but my money is on him having em all on parade and giving them heaps up there. I will never forget the very first time i went to his place for a beer...wasnt sure whether to ring the doorbell or not....there was a sign on it...."NO HOOKERS, HAWKERS OR JESUS FREAKS NEED BOTHER".
Keep up the good work fellas, will stay in touch .....Lucii

I hope you and your family are well. I haven't visited the site here for quite some time, but I did today and was saddened to read about your past conviction preventing you from being a 'fit and proper' citizen worthy of receiving an Order of Australia medal.
I know how you feel mate. Back when I was young and stupid in my early 20's, I became addicted to marijuana. Whilst travelling home on leave to Karatha WA, from HMAS Melbourne (which was berthed in Garden Island Sydney). I got arrested and was put in jail overnight in Geralton WA. In the morning I fronted the Judge and ended up getting fined $100 for possession of marijuana.
And from this episode of my life, I became a criminal. I now have a criminal record and a black mark against my name till the end of my days. So basically, it wouldn't matter what I did, I will alway be viewed as a criminal. I was having personal problems and got addicted to marijuana whilst on HMAS Perth in the USA in 1974 - 75, and this is how things ended up.
