Good Afternoon Ladies and
Gentlemen,
In order to keep you abreast
of developments as we move towards the centenary of the granting of the RAN
title, I would like to take this opportunity to keep you all informed about
what events are planned for next year and beyond.
Navy Anniversaries:
The first attachment provide details of a
number of events which are planned to be celebrated over the next few years.
More detailed information regarding each event I expect will become available
closer to the dates. Suffice to say there are a significant number of
anniversaries over the next five years. The following link http://www.navy.gov.au/Commemorative_Events_Calendar should
take you the Navy events calendar which also provides a link to allow your
various organisations to list your own functions on the Navy Calendar,
hopefully this way ensuring wide dissemination of the details of your various
events. I would encourage you all to use this facility, however if you
have trouble getting access then please let me know and we'll try to rectify
the problems.
ST Mary's Memorial: Work
continues to progress with the development of this memorial. The planned
date for the dedication of the memorial has now been set for Sun 10 July 11
(AM) (the actual centenary date).
Carruthers Memorial
Park: Also on Sun 10 July 11 (PM), the Pine
Rivers NAA Subsection is planning to dedicate a Navy Memorial at Carruthers
Park (see second attachment for details).
HMAS Voyager Memorial
Service: This service will be held at St
Mary's church Kangaroo Point on Sun 13 Feb 11 @ 0900. Please note
the details are contained in the third attachment along with Glen
Lamperd's contact details as he is the POC for this event.
I hope this information will
prove useful to you and your representative organisations. Please
distribute it amongst your organisations. If there is anything you would
